Dr Suraj A. Pandit is the Head of the department of Ancient Indian Culture and Buddhist Studies, at Sathaye College of Parle Tilak Vidyalaya Association. He has around 22 years of teaching experience at the Undergraduate and the Post Graduate Level. He is also a recognized Post Graduate teacher and a Research Guide in the Subject of Ancient Indian Culture.
Dr. Pandit is a trained archaeologist and has numerous research publications in his name. He has published more than 60 research papers in the national and the International Research Journals. He has 9 books on his name. He has also contributed as a columnist in Lokmat and Maharashtra Times. He has worked as a consultant to the Ministry of Culture, the Government of Maharashtra, the Government of Odisha, and the Government of Bihar. He was awarded the Wallonia-Brussels fellowship for the joint project between the University of Brussels and Sathaye College (Autonomous).
Dr. Pandit has completed various research projects funded by the University Grant Commissions, the Ministry of Culture and MMRDA. He has primarily contributed to the fields of Buddhist Archaeology, Urban Archaeology, Ancient Indian Art and Architecture, Cultural Heritage and Tourism. He was insturmental in raising research funding of more than 1,00,00,000/- in the last 12 years.
Dr. Pandit has worked on various committees of the University of Mumbai, Punyashlok Ahilya Bai Holkar Solapur University, Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth and the Deccan College Deemed University. He has been recently invited by the editorial team for a book on Urban Centres on Silk Roads, constituted by the UNESCO to contribute an article on the Cultural Heritage of Mumbai.
