Dr. Rahul Walawalkar is a well-known name in Energy Sector reforms in India. He leads the Emerging Technologies & Markets practice for Customized Energy Solutions, focusing on energy storage, renewables, demand response and smart grid technologies, and international markets. Rahul was elected to the Board of Directors of the Energy Storage Association 3 times for serving a 6-year term (2009-15). He is the Founder & President of India Energy Storage Alliance. He served as Chair for the Global Energy Storage Alliance during 2019-20.
Rahul is involved in providing inputs for the smart grid, demand response, and energy storage policy to various state and national agencies in US and India. He has obtained Smart Grid Maturity Model (SGMM) Navigator certification. Rahul holds a Ph.D. in Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University, a Master’s in Energy Management from the New York Institute of Technology & degree in Electrical Engineering from Walchand College of Engineering. Rahul has been recognized as a legend in energy by the Association of Energy Engineers, US. He was also awarded India Smart Grid Forum President’s Award for his contribution to the growth of smarter grids in India in 2018.
